Betty Neumar - One Mean Cougar!

Image
Today, the 76 year old grandmother was released from a North Carolina jail on $300,000 bond. An Atlanta Journal Constitution Article reports that she was being held on charges that she tried to hire someone to kill one of her five dead husbands . This lady is one mean cougar and she's on the prowl. If this woman answers your personals ad on Craigslist.org, run for your life. The article doesn't say what tipped authorities off that she may have been responsible for the shooting death of husband number five. Uh I dunno, maybe the four other dead spouses might have been a clue. Perhaps her interpretation of "til death do you part" is a little more progressive than most.

Cavity Creeps - We Make Holes In Teeth!

Yesterday, Bryan's trip to the dentist reminded of an old TV Commercial for Crest Toothpaste. Crest Cavity Creeps | Viral | SPIKE.com Almost 30 years later, I can't remember why I thought this was a cool commercial, but I did.

Congratulations Chris!

Chris, a friend and former co-worker, has recently been promoted to Architect. I think it's cool that I have a friend that I can now refer to as "The Architect". Chris is a .NET developer and has a blog where he writes about Visual Studio/SQL/Microsoft Tech and tech stuff in general. Check it out at http://chrisghardwick.blogspot.com/

Lego my Xbox Controller

Image
In addition to my bum knee, I now have another excuse not to run. For my 38th birthday, Jenni got me an Xbox360 . So far, I've got Gears of War , Call of Duty 2 , and Lego Star Wars II The Original Trilogy . The last one is by far the most addictive game I've played. I've got just enough of the OCD gene that I can't get through a level on that game without finding every stud, mini kit, and secret gold brick. I predict many sleepless nights in my future (at least until I finish this game).

Contest: create your own Memorable, Interesting, Lovable Flavor

On Tuesday, PETA sent a letter to Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield of Ben & Jerry's Homemade Ice Cream asking them to dump dairy and go with human milk instead . So while Ben & Jerry figure out what they're going to do with all those cows (not to mention where they're going to get enough lactating women), I thought we could help them out by coming up with some names for their new creation. Here are a few of my ideas: " Mother's Finest " - The finest chocolate and vanilla ice creams harmoniously blended together. "Bosom Buddies" - What else, but two great tastes that taste great together. A generous portion of Reece’s Pieces paired with a marvelous milk chocolate ice cream. "Double D Delight" - A cookies 'n cream variation that uses Double Stuf Oreos. All of these would be available in a celebrity branded whole or skim breast milk variety according to the matrix below: You can head over to Ben & Jerry's suggestion form t

Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less?

Image
Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less is a new bumper sticker campaign from http://www.americansolutions.com/ . I saw this bumper sticker on the way to work today. While I agree that we should use the natural resources found within our own borders, I still think it's funny to see this bumper sticker on a Ford Expedition that's speeding from traffic light to traffic light with only the occupant being driver. How about "Increase Efficiency, Consume Less, Pay Less" as a bumper sticker? Rather than trying to increase supply, wouldn't working towards decreasing demand have the same effect on price? Just an idea.

100 Mile Challenge Over

Cory, one of coworkers, threw down a challenge that I couldn't run a hundred miles in the month of August. Well August has come and gone and here are the results. As a reward, Cory has to grill me up a rack of ribs.

The Obama Prayer

A friend of mine wrote this funny parody of the Lord's Prayer with Barack Obama as his inspiration. He registered the domain name and put it on the internet for everyone to see. The Our Father as Obama will have it if elected. Link to the Site | digg story

2008 Big Peach Running Co. Scavenger Hunt

8/9/2008, Marietta, GA - I woke up early to meet my team mate, John Trainor, for the 2nd annual Big Peach Running Co. Scavenger Hunt. Ten teams tested their trivia knowledge, problem solving skills, and running ability over the nearly seven mile course. Our team won the trivia contest, which meant that we seeded first. The other teams followed in thirty second intervals based on their trivia score. Each team had a sheet with clues to seven landmarks. Our task was to decipher the clues and plot the best route to hit each one. Once we arrived at a landmark, we would take a picture and then head to the next one. The team to photograph all seven and arrive back at the Big Peach first was declared the winner. John was a powerhouse. Had it not been for him I don’t think we’d have done as well as we did. We finished fourth out of ten. The first place team finished in 1:09:00! We finished in 1:33:00, 11 minutes out of third place. I felt good about our performance. I think that we r

2008 Peachtree Road Race

This year was my 8th Peachtree Road Race. This year the course was a little different, in that it didn't finish in Piedmont Park (due to the extreme drought conditions). You can check out my race performance at Slowgeek or you can view my Twitter timeline for a taste of what my morning was like. Here's a google map of the course for this year too. View Larger Map
