Anvil + Black Powder = FUN!

Who knew there was a sport called Anvil Shooting? I didn't until I saw this video. Apparently, there's a National Avil Shooting Contest held each April in Laurel, Mississippi.

Anvil Shooting or Anvil Launching as it is also known is relatively unknown as a sport. Personally, I think the sport is getting ready to explode in the United States.

In the following video, World Champion Anvil Shooter, Gay Wilkinson gives us a demonstration.



The only thing cooler would be a if the Anvil Shooters duke it out with the Illinois State University Trebuchet Team in a winner take all smack-down on pay-per-view.

How do they do it?

Lately, I've been commuting to work via a route that takes me onto GA 400, I-285, and I-75. On this route there are traffic signs, speed limits, painted lane markers, concrete median walls, and steel guard rails in place to try and prevent everyone from dying in a fiery automotive apocalypse. But in spite of all of these safety devices, I've seen at least one accident every day this week. While searching for some tips on time lapse photography, I saw this video by Rob Whitworth . I was amazed at the way traffic moved, especially the traffic circles (54 seconds in). With almost no painted lines, traffic lights or traffic direction, people are moving where they want to go without running into the other people who are going in different directions.  It almost appears as if the whole thing were choreographed.
